What is Westminster Parliamentary Record?

The Record is a comprehensive online resource that holds detailed biographical details of parliamentarians and prospective parliamentarians. Our subscribers are able to directly access accurate and up to date information on parliamentarians, and will be able to search across profiles using the full range of fields and filters in our search engine.

 

How can I access Westminster Parliamentary Record?

All visitors to the site can access basic profile information free of charge. Please visit our user guide for details on how to use the database.  Advanced information services are available for subscribers. For details of our subscription rates please contact us.

 

What kind of information can I search for?

The Record has a sophisticated search engine built into it that will enable users to search for a substantial range of information across parliamentary profiles. This will include such things as career histories, committee memberships, political interests and constituency data.

 

How often is Westminster Parliamentary Record updated?

We keep the Record under constant scrutiny and updates are made on a weekly basis to ensure that the service is as accurate and up to date as possible.

 

What other services do we provide?

Along with access to the Record subscribers can receive regular updates and briefings on any current Parliamentary business that is of particular interest to them. Subscribers may also commission specific research on particular topics from the Westminster Parliamentary Research team. 

 

Where is the constituency specific data taken from?

All local population statistics are taken from the 2001 census.

 

Which parliamentarians do you have information on?

The Record will contain the profiles of all Members of Parliament when it is launched, along with the profiles of over 200 prospective parliamentary candidates (PPCs) who are most likely to gain seats at the next General Election. As the Record is updated and expanded it will include members of the House of Lords, the devolved assemblies and British Members of the European Parliament.

 

What kind of information does each profile contain?

Each profile will detail biographical information, as well as details of political interests, education, career history inside and outside of Parliament, any ministerial posts that the hold or have held in the past and details of Parliamentary committees that they sit on. The profiles will also provide contact details and links to personal and party websites.
